Committee Descriptions


VOLUNTEER Committee Responsibilities.

Please note, committees will close on a first come, first served basis. Please see the section regarding committee preferences on the volunteer application for details.

FACILITY SERVICES DIVISION

Golf Cart Management - Responsible for cart distribution and control during tournament week. Committee also ensures carts are returned and charged at the end of each day.

Volunteer ADA Transportation– Transports VOLUNTEERS and ADA patrons to specific areas on the golf course.

Beverage & Course Support – Responsible for distribution of refreshments for players and VOLUNTEERS and other goods to various locations throughout the course. Replenishing the coolers throughout the day and collecting them in the evening are also responsibilities of this committee. Also, distributes tournament programs, spectator guides & pairing sheets and any other information items to hospitality areas, entrances, and other locations.

SCORING SERVICES DIVISION

Laser Shotlink – Operates stationary tripod lasers at locations on the course to provide statistical information. The lasers are stationed greenside and at designated landing areas. The SHOTLink System collects and disseminates scoring and statistical data on every shot, real-time, during every match via the use of hand held palm pilots. The gathered information is used immediately by television, PGA TOUR.COM, and the TOUR Links player laptop program. Training is provided by the PGA TOUR. Additional information can be found at SHOTLink.com. Mandatory training sessions are held Saturday before tournament and Tuesday or Wednesday practice round days. Located at fairways and greens. Must be able to walk long distances. MANDATORY: Work 4 days ( Thursday- Sunday) 90% golf knowledge and English.  Interview necessary. 

Standard Bearers - Must be between15-18 years of age and able to carry the standard (app. 5-6 pounds). MANDATORY: Work 4 days ( Thursday- Sunday) 90% golf knowledge and English.  Interview necessary. 

Walking Scorers – Scorers walk with each group to keep statistics and hole-by-hole records for each player with a handheld electronic device. Mandatory training sessions are on Saturday before the tournament and Tuesday or Wednesday, practice round days. MANDATORY: Work 4 days ( Thursday- Sunday) 90% golf knowledge and English. Interview necessary. 

MARSHAL SERVICES DIVISION

Marshals – Responsible for crowd management, gallery noise control, and player movement. Committee also provides van and golf cart drivers to shuttle players from the course to secured areas following completion of play and/or due to inclement weather to safety. Marshals are expected to work Tuesday- Sunday throughout the week.

HOSPITALITY SERVICES DIVISION

Hospitality in Club House, Hole 18th & Hole 17th (ABC, Oasis & Fiesta):  Hosts corporate sponsors in hospitality areas by checking spectators for proper credentials, meeting and greeting guests, and providing WGC- Mexico Championship information. Along with assisting the Marshal team with noise control when players are on the green.



SPECTATOR SERVICES DIVISION

Access & Information - Located at the admission gates, putting green, and all locator boards. This committee serves as greeters and provides vital information on various points of interest, including hole locations, tee times, concession locations, restroom locations, etc. to the public and sponsors.

Parking & Infield - Helps to guide the spectators to the course.

Media Center – Support office needs of media staff. 

Honorary Observers – This VOLUNTEER committee is stationed at the Honorary Observer Tent located at #1 Tee. This committee welcomes, registers, and orients the sponsors that are designated to walk inside the ropes with assigned PGA TOUR Professional golfers per tee time.

NBC Sports Support: Volunteers need to speak English, know golf or play golf. Need to have availability to help Thursday to Sunday tournament week. Positions for volunteers at NBC Sports are SPOTTERS, SCORERS, CAMERA ASSISTANTS, ON-COURSE COMMENTATOR ASSISTANTS. Each position comes with inside the ropes access to the event and a very unique and fun experience. 

PLAYER SERVICES DIVISION

Player Services - Register PGA Tour players and assist them, their families and staff with their needs and questions during tournament week.  Act as player concierge desk for player needs such as will call services.  Volunteers are needed Sunday to Sunday.

Caddies Services - Register PGA Tour player caddies and assist them with their needs and questions during tournament week.  Additional activities include:

  • Maintain, issue, and retrieve caddie vests and player names
  • Assist in caddie towel distribution
  • Ensure correct vest names are available for all players
  • Distribute caddie vests in Hole 1 and 10 and help manage starting tents

Volunteers are needed Sunday through Sunday.

Player Transportation – Staff the Player Transportation desk at the Club and the Hotel.  Provide information and logistic services to players/drivers for their transportation.  Act as player concierge desk for player needs.  This group also supports airport meet/greeters for players the days prior and after the tournament.

Concierge Services: Volunteers in charge of concierge services for players at the Club and the Hotel.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES DIVISION

Volunteer SP & Office HQ Support – Assists the tournament office prior to and during the tournament with general administration duties to include answering the phones, taking ticket orders, assisting with distribution of important information and greeting office guests. Oversee management of VOLUNTEER resources, duties will include; distribution, database development & management, and processing VOLUNTEER registrations. VOLUNTEERs are needed beginning in February 2019. Be a part of behind the scenes on how the tournament runs.

Uniform Distribution – Provide service for inventory and distribution of all VOLUNTEER apparel and benefits. 

Volunteer Services Check-In HQ - Check in all VOLUNTEERS daily.

Volunteer Store - Sell oficial merchandise for VOLUNTEERS.
